Privacy Policy

Scizzr is a dating and social app for women and queer people, operated by Scizzr Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we use it.

We collect the following categories of personal data:

• Account data: Email address, password (hashed), date of birth.
• Profile data: Display name, bio, photos, interests, identity tags, pronouns, gender, location (city/region level).
• Verification data: Selfie photo for photo verification; government-issued ID for ID verification. These are reviewed by our team and then deleted within 30 days of a decision.
• Location data: GPS coordinates, collected only during an active Safe Meeting session and with your explicit permission. Retained for up to 30 days then automatically deleted.
• Usage data: App activity, last seen timestamp (debounced — updated at most every 5 minutes), device type.
• Messages: Chat messages between users. Stored securely and accessible only to the sender and recipient.
• Payment data: Processed via Stripe. We do not store card numbers. We retain order records and entitlement status.
• Safe Meeting data: Session details, check-in times, emergency contact name and phone number (used only to send safety alerts), watch link tokens.

• To provide the service — account management, matching, messaging, and safety features.
• Safety — Safe Meeting monitoring, verification to reduce fake profiles, moderation of reported content.
• Legal compliance — we may be required to retain certain records under UK law.
• Improving the app — anonymised analytics to understand how features are used.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties.

• Account data: Until you delete your account, plus up to 30 days for backup purposes.
• Verification documents: Deleted within 30 days of a verification decision.
• GPS location data: Retained for up to 30 days then automatically purged. You can request immediate deletion in-app.
• Messages: Retained while both accounts exist. Deleted when either account is deleted.
• Audit logs: Retained for up to 1 year for safety and legal purposes.

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Deletion — delete your account and all associated data in-app (Settings → Delete Account), or contact us directly.
• Portability — receive your data in a portable format on request.
• Correction — update inaccurate data via your profile or by contacting us.
• Object — object to processing for certain purposes including marketing.

To exercise any right, contact privacy@scizzrapp.com. We will respond within 30 days.

• Supabase — authentication provider.
• Stripe — payment processing.
• Twilio — SMS delivery for Safe Meeting emergency alerts only.
• Sentry / GlitchTip — crash reporting (anonymised).

Each third party processes data under their own privacy policies and is bound by data processing agreements with us.

The Scizzr mobile app does not use cookies. This website uses a single session cookie for navigation purposes only. No advertising or tracking cookies are used.

Scizzr is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us immediately at safety@scizzrapp.com.

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or by email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
